Phoenix is the capital and most populous city in the state of Arizona and sits in the southern portion of the state in the desert. There’s a good chance that if you’re flying to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon, or coming into the state on a road trip you’ll end up at Phoenix at some point!
Phoenix, and it’s surrounding suburbs and cities make up what’s called the Phoenix Valley, or as it’s simply referred to as by the locals, the valley.

The Phoenix Zoo
The Phoenix Zoo is one of the most beautiful zoo’s in the country and is home to all sorts of wild life. Whether you’re looking to learn more about the wildlife that calls Arizona home, or just looking for a fun day with the family, The Phoenix Zoo is an amazing way to spend the day in the Phoenix Valley.
Goldfield Ghost Town
Does your trip through the desert have you feeling a bit like a cowboy? Goldfield Ghost Town can make you feel like even more of one with their incredible real functioning western town!
With a beautiful backdrop of the Superstition mountains, Goldfield Ghost Town is an amazing trip for families, couples, and solo adventurers alike!
Goldfield Ghost Town is located east of Phoenix and Mesa in Apache Junction, AZ! It’s completely free to enter and walk around, and has all sorts of fun activities for families. From taking your picture with outlaws, to shooting in the gallery, to stopping by the saloon for a cold sarsaparilla, Gold Field Ghost town is one of the last of its kind in Arizona, possibility even the country!
Mill Avenue is known as party city in Arizona. While it’s not a great spot for families looking for fun in Arizona, it’s certainly great for solo travelers and couples looking for a bit of fun on the town!
Located right next to the ASU campus, it has a vivid night life and party scene. There’s not much to do on Mill Avenue other than eat, drink, and party but if that’s what you’re looking for then there is no better place in Arizona to let it happen.
Like Mill Avenue, Downtown Scottsdale is another great place to enjoy the evening. Scottsdale is known as one of the more affluent cities in the Phoenix Valley, and as such the downtown area is absolutely spectacular!
It’s also another hot spot for bars, clubs, and nightlife. If you’re a night owl and looking to get a bit wild in Phoenix, downtown Scottsdale is the spot to be at.
Talking Stick Casino And Resort
Not to be confused with Talking Stick Casino And Resort Arena, (the stadium in downtown Phoenix where the Phoenix Suns basketball team plays), Talking Stick Casino And Resort, further abbreviated as TSCAR throughout the rest of this article is an amazing spot to enjoy in Phoenix!
With it’s incredible 24/7 casino gaming, impressive golf course, buffets, luxury rooms, and huge pool, you might think you’re in Las Vegas rather than just outside of Phoenix.
Located in Scottsdale, TSCAR is a hot destination for visitors and locals alike! If you’ve got the itch to gamble, or are just looking for a more luxurious stay in the valley, TSCAR is the place to be!
