While things aren’t exactly the same as they used to be, life is slowly starting to return back to normal in the United States.

With that being said, there are still restrictions in place on what you can do in certain states and cities.

After being couped up in the house for months, it’s time to get out and enjoy the world again! While you might not feel comfortable booking that dream vacation to Hawaii just yet, here are four great day trip ideas that you can do NOW, with respect to social distancing guidelines.

Ah the great outdoors! While most of us might live in cities or small towns, no matter where you live you probably know of, or have at least heard about a great hiking spot close by. For some of us, it might mean an hour or two drive out of the city, and for others of us in remote areas it might mean a 5 minute drive. Regardless, hiking is a great day trip activity that you can do and also do while respecting social distancing guidelines.

Whether it’s a solo adventure up a hill, or an outing for the entire family, hiking is sure to help ease any boredom or claustrophobia you might be feeling after a long lock down.

Picnic In The Park

Although many parks closed during lockdown, many are starting to open back up and fill with people! This day trip idea will depend greatly on what the pandemic situation is looking like in your state and area, however if parks are open and available why not plan a day trip and picnic at the park? Whether it’s with your significant other, or the entire family, a picnic in the park can be a great way to get some fresh air and let those legs stretch.

It’s been a long quarantine for everyone, so whether it’s snuggling up with your lover on a blanket, or relaxing and watching your kids play, a picnic in the park might be just what the doctor ordered for you and your family.

Go Fish

Fishing can be a great way to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors, either alone or with family. While there may be some costs involved in your area regarding Fishing licensees, most states offer 1 day or 1 week licenses that enable you to fish to your hearts content at a fraction of the cost!

Whether you’re fishing catch and release, or trying to catch tonight’s dinner, fishing can be fun for the whole family or for just yourself!

Take A Drive And See Some Place New!

The freedom of the road, and no where to go. If you crave adventure and are tired of being cooped up, why not just take a drive somewhere and see where you end up? Sometimes the best adventures in life are the ones you don’t plan, they are the ones you just end up on.

While this day trip idea depends heavily on where you live, it can still be a great way to see some place new! Whether you’re in a big city and it’s just another side of town you’ve never seen before, or a long winding back road that brings you to a ghost town, take a drive and see where you end up!

Just Get Out There!

While we do understand that Coronavirus travel anxiety is very very real, if you’re tired of being home and feel comfortable going out, just get out there and do something!
